Services & Rates

Quotes are given after taking into consideration genre, subject matter, overall complexity, required deadlines, etc.

I now offer both copyediting and proofreading for business content and shorter works, and proofreading only at this time for longer works such as books and dissertations. My preferred style guides are The Chicago Manual of Style and AP Stylebook, but I will confirm any preferences you have before beginning your project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Copyediting comes before proofreading, and I currently offer this for business content and shorter works only. I receive your document, mark the errors, and return your document. You will then accept or reject those changes. When copyediting, I check for the following:

  • clarity
  • overall flow
  • brand voice consistency
  • word usage
  • grammar
  • syntax
  • punctuation
  • spelling
  • formatting consistency

*For podcast transcripts, I will also clean up overused interjections and filler phrases upon request.

Proofreading (different than other types of editing) is the final stage in the process before publication. My job is to receive your document, mark the errors, and return the document. You will then accept or reject those changes. I look for the following errors that might have slipped past previous editing phases:

  • spelling
  • punctuation
  • grammar
  • word usage
  • duplicate words
  • typos
  • formatting consistency

If your document is where you want it as far as content goes but needs a little more refining to ensure clarity for your reader, you would benefit from copyediting + proofreading.

If your content has been copyedited already and just needs a fresh set of eyes to catch any last errors before publication, you only need proofreading.

If you’re still unsure, we can discuss your needs and determine an appropriate scope for your project.

Your total cost will depend on chosen services, genre, subject matter, overall complexity, required deadlines, etc. I can present you with an accurate quote once I examine your document(s). If you are a business looking to establish a recurring relationship, we can work out a flat rate for like content.

Word, Google Docs, or PDF. Microsoft Word is most common. Podcast transcripts must be in Word or Google Docs.

Turnaround time depends on the length and complexity of the project and my current schedule. Please include your desired deadline in your contact message information, and I can confirm a realistic due date after assessing your content.

Payment is collected via secure invoice sent to the email you provide.

Payment is due upon completion for projects totaling less than $100. Projects totaling over $100 require a 50 percent deposit before editing begins, and the rest is due upon completion.

Please send all inquiries to amplifyproofreading@gmail.com and include the following:
